Hurghada International Youth Cinema celebrates the golden jubilee of the October victories.

A lecture and tribute to Major General Samir Farag, and a screening of a rare collection of war films.

The Hurghada International Youth Film Festival, headed by writer and screenwriter Mohamed El Basousi, in its first session, which will be held from September 21 to September 27, 2023, celebrates the golden jubilee of the glorious October victories.
The celebration includes a lecture by the great military expert Major General Dr. Samir Farag, one of the heroes of the October 1973 war, during which he reviews the preliminary stages that Egypt went through until the achievement of the great victory.
Major General Dr. Samir Farag says: The glorious October War wrote a new history for the entire world, and that the victory is the most precious among the victories achieved by the Egyptian army in our modern era, and that the Egyptian soldier was the real surprise in the war, especially since he was equipped and prepared at the highest levels of fighting.
He mentioned that the cinema presented works about the October victories, but the stories about them do not end and need many different films because it was a military and humanitarian epic by all standards.
For his part, writer and screenwriter Mohamed El Basousi, head of the festival, said: The celebration will also include a tribute to Major General Dr. Samir Faraj as one of the heroes of the glorious war and a symbol of our military and enlightenment symbols. A rare group of films shot specifically about the war will also be screened, including the tank hunter directed by Khairy Bishara. It was directed by Mahmoud Abdel Samie and produced in 1974. It is one of the immortal documentaries that dealt with the war through one of its heroes, the hero Abdel Ati, nicknamed the Tank Hunter, a film tribute to an Egyptian fighter directed by Salah El Tohamy, the film The End of the Bar Lev Line directed by Abdel Qader El Telmisani, and the film Heroes from Egypt directed by Ahmed Rashid. All of them are films that dealt with the Great October Victory from different angles.
